Zarina Abaeva was born in Vladikavkaz, where she studied at the College of Arts.​ V.A. Gergiev.​ Then she entered the vocal faculty of the Russian Academy of Music.​

Since 2012 she sang as soloist of the Perm Opera, and since 2019 she was invited soloist of the Moscow theater "New Opera" named after​ E.V. Kolobova.

In her theatrical repertoire: Iolanta (“Iolanta”), Tatyana (“Eugene Onegin”), Maria (“Mazepa”), Agnes Sorel (“Orleans maiden”) - in the operas of P. Tchaikovsky;​ Michaela (Carmen), Mimi (Boheme), Cio Cio San (Madame Butterfly) in Puccini's operas;​ Virgin Mary (“Jeanne at the stake” by Onegger).​ The singer took part in concert performances such as in the title part of Suor Angelica and Aida, Katya ("Passenger" by Weinberg), Blanche ("Dialogues of Carmelites" of Poulenc), Gorislava ("Ruslan and Lyudmila" Glinka), Ninette​ ("Love for Three Oranges" by Prokofiev).

Zarina Abaeva collaborated with directors such as Romeo Castelllucci, Philippe Himmelmann, Katerina Evangelatos.

In October 2017 she sang Natasha’s part in a concert performance of the opera The Mermaid by Dargomyzhsky at the Grand Festival of the Russian National Orchestra conducted by Mikhail Pletnev.​ In November of the same year she performed in the Mimi part of La Boheme (directed by Philip Himmelmann and conducted by Theodor Currentzis) in Baden-Baden and Dortmund.​ In March 2019, together with the musicAeterna orchestra and choir, led by Theodor Currentzis, she took part in a tour that included cities of Russia and Europe, performing the soprano part in Verdi's Requiem;​ The final concert of the tour took place in Milan.​ In November 2019, under the conduction of Theodore Currentzis, she performed the soprano part in Verdi's Requiem in New York and Berlin with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

Zarina Abaeva - nominated in the All-Russian Competition for Young Vocalists, named after​ N. Obukhova (Lipetsk, 2010) and the Minsk International Christmas Vocal Competition (2016, III prize).​ In 2015, the singer was nominated for the Russian National Golden Mask Award for her performance of Anthony’s part (Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann).

Among her future commitments: Madama Butterfly in Salerno and in Roma, Il Trovatore at Teatro Regio in Parma.
